Big Boy Bed- Part I

We finally broke down and did it- we bought a toddler bed. Danny isn't even two yet, so I was hoping he'd be able to stay in the crib for a while longer. Coming from a Dad who's over 6 feet tall, and a Mom who's not much shorter, our baby's got some long legs on him! Whenever we're out and about and someone asks how old he is, they can't believe he's only 22 months. We were at the mall on Friday, and he was playing with a little boy who was the same age. Danny towered over him! Which brings me to the crib dilemma- he's beginning to stretch those long legs out, and is trying to get one over the crib rail!

Hence, the toddler bed purchase. We decided to set it up right next to his crib, so he wouldn't be upset by too many changes. We didn't have to worry, because as soon as he saw it, he got really excited and wanted to help Mommy make up the bed. After a story (reading his Elmo book five times "Ell-mo, mommy, Ell-mo!") he snuggled right down and fell asleep. We were amazed at how easy the transition was!

Look at those sexy legs!

At around four o'clock in the morning, we hear his door rattling, and then suddenly I'm struck in the face with a Magna-doodle! (It's kind of like an Etch-A-Sketch, very hard and plastic) He wanted to play! We tuck him into bed with us, and he eventually falls asleep. We try again the next night, only making sure that the bedroom door is securely shut to prevent any nighttime intruders. This doesn't deter Daniel, who rattles the door and howls for Mama. He again winds up sleeping with us.

So, the bed has been packed up for a little while longer, and we're hoping dare-devil Daniel doesn't try to fling himself out of the crib. He's still just a little shy of being able to get his leg up around the crib side, so I think we have a month or two before he grows tall enough to do it!

I did snap a few precious photos of him napping in his "big boy" bed before we put it away.
