We went to Atlanta for Daniel's Birthday. Within 90 minutes we were parked in downtown! On a map, Macon looks to be much farther away, but it's practically an outer-suburb. This is turning out to be a nice bonus we hadn't counted on. We went to the Georgia Aquarium, which just opened last November.
Watching Danny's face light-up was a true joy! We weren't sure how much he'd like the Aquarium but he really got into it!
The Aquarium has a huge glass tunnel that you can walk through with thousands of fish swimming all around you (and overhead). In the picture below, Danny is not looking away from the fish... he's looking up at the huge whale shark that's swimming overhead... way cool! (The crowd gave an audible gasp each time the shark circled overhead - it was massive!)
Afterwards, we walked across the street to Centennial Olympic Park - a really nice legacy to the 1996 Olympics. Danny played in the dancing fountains for almost an hour!
When Daddy wasn't taking pictures or video, he was chilling and enjoying watching his baby sea monkey!
Of course, we had cake and presents. Danny had a great first birthday, and Mommy & Daddy had fun, too!
