Sir Hershey Special Dark, 2000-2006

We lost a best friend today and already miss him dearly. Hershey fell into a peaceful sleep after more than six months of battling a mysterious illness. In mid-April, he had three lymph nodes removed from his neck, but his pain persisted and he spent the entire late spring and summer months (including our arduous move) fighting what our best guess is a form of bone cancer (it appeared as though his cervical vertebrae had moth-eaten holes).

Hershey was a very sweet companion who never missed an opportunity to play or snuggle. He was also notoriously naughty and we caught him playing in the middle of Lake Avenue several times, as well as lost him in dense woods on a couple of occassions.

Earlier today, he had a meal fit for a king and took a walk along the river in a light rain (but he didn't seem to mind). We will miss our furry prince who we had known since he was just 40 days old. We love you, Hershey.
