This is beautiful little Mikey. He and his family were our main purpose for
going back home. They have been through quite a set of challenges and we
wanted to support them in the only way we knew how - to be good listeners and
help in any way we could given that we now live a 20-hour drive away.

The above picture is Mikey home safe and sound from the hospital. We feel
very fortunate that we were in-town for his special homecoming.
Here are the proud and exhausted parents who have fought so courageously (and
ferociously at times) to bring Mikey home to his family.
We, of course, had to get in our "Mikey Time". He is such a sweet little
prince.

A little side story from Angel about this picture.
This was one of the first days that Mikey was home, and the first time I was able to hold him outside of the hospital. As soon as he snuggled down in my arms, he gave just the hint of a beautiful smile. His Mommy Michelle saw it and got so excited- we had just witnessed his first smile! Then, just to prove to us that we saw correctly, he did it AGAIN! Then Michelle leaned over and said to him, "I bet you're smiling at the little angel baby that's fluttering around her Mommy right now."
I had been so good at keeping the happy tears in all day, knowing what an incredible miracle it was for Michelle and Mikey to both be alive and healthy-and now home-after everything they had been through. It was just such a wonderful feeling to witness and be a part of that experience. I was doing so well, and then Michelle, you had to make me cry! And then of course Michelle started crying, and then David and Mike look over at us, and have no idea why their wives are blubbering like fools!
So Mikey, thank you for sharing that very special moment with me.

Over the course of the week, we got a real sense of what it will be like when
Danny becomes a big brother - JEALOUSY!

Michailey and Emme have been such good girls and great helpers these past couple of months. Angel brought a huge box full of nail polish, make-up, and other "girlie goodies" and threw the girls a makeover party!
